DNS
Why do I need DNS
A domain without DNS may be registered but not know where to send web, email or other services. DNS connects the name with real servers.

The domain alone is not enough
Buying a domain reserves the name, but it does not say where the website is or who receives email.
For the domain to be useful, a DNS zone must publish those instructions.
What it is for
You need DNS to:
- show a website;
- receive email with the domain;
- forward the domain to another website;
- validate external services;
- publish security or email records.
Without correct DNS, the domain may look inactive even though it is registered.
Who should manage it
DNS can be managed by the domain provider, hosting provider, an external platform or PRIMARI.NET.
The important thing is knowing which DNS is active and not editing a zone that the Internet is not using.
At PRIMARI.NET
If you want to manage DNS with PRIMARI.NET, order or open Primary DNS for the domain.
You can then create the required records and activate changes. If you only have the domain but not DNS, changes may need to be made at another provider.
When to ask for help
Ask for help if you do not know where DNS must be edited, if web is at one provider and email at another, or if you want to move DNS management without interrupting services.
