Webforwarding
What is webforwarding
Webforwarding makes an address on your domain send visitors to another URL. It is useful when the website is on another server, an external platform or a temporary address.

Redirecting website visits
Webforwarding is a website redirect. When someone opens an address on your domain, the server tells the browser to go to another URL.
For example, www.example.com can send visitors to:
https://mypage.wixsite.com/mypage
or to any other complete URL.
What the visitor sees
With a normal redirect, the browser ends up showing the destination address. A visitor who types www.example.com may end up seeing mypage.wixsite.com/mypage in the address bar.
This is different from hosting the website directly on your domain. Webforwarding sends the visitor somewhere else; it does not move the website.
When it is useful
Webforwarding is useful when:
- your website is on an external platform;
- you want to point a domain temporarily to an existing page;
- you want to redirect
wwwor a subdomain to another URL; - you have an old website and want to send visits to a new one;
- you want a quick start without full web hosting.
What to remember
A redirect does not create a website, create email or replace DNS. The domain still needs a configuration that lets browsers reach the forwarding service.
You also need to choose whether the redirect is temporary or permanent, because that can affect browsers and search engines.
How PRIMARI handles it
At PRIMARI.NET, webforwarding is managed from the domain panel. First request the service, then create forwarding entries.
Each entry defines:
- the source, such as
wwwor@for the bare domain; - whether it should answer on HTTP or HTTPS;
- the full destination URL, starting with
http://orhttps://; - whether the redirect is temporary or permanent.
After saving, activate the changes so they take effect.
When to contact PRIMARI.NET
Contact PRIMARI.NET if you are unsure whether you need webforwarding, DNS or web hosting. Ask before redirecting a production website if you want to avoid losing visits or affecting email.
