Webforwarding
Webforwarding or web hosting?
Webforwarding sends visits to another URL. Web hosting actually hosts the website under your domain. The right choice depends on whether you only redirect or host the site.

They are different services
Webforwarding is not the same as web hosting.
Webforwarding sends the visitor to another URL. Web hosting is the service where the website files, applications or content live.
When webforwarding fits
Webforwarding fits when:
- the website already exists on another platform;
- you want to redirect the domain quickly;
- you have a temporary URL;
- you want a subdomain to point to an external page;
- you do not need to upload files to a PRIMARI server.
It is simple and practical, but visitors may end up seeing the destination URL.
When web hosting fits
Web hosting fits when:
- the website should appear directly under your domain;
- you need to upload files by SFTP;
- you want PHP, WordPress or a database;
- you want more control over the website structure;
- you do not want to depend on an external URL.
In this case, the domain points to the server that hosts the website.
What about email
Changing webforwarding or hosting should not affect email if DNS and services are properly separated, but review it before changing a production domain.
A domain can have the website in one place and email in another.
How PRIMARI handles it
At PRIMARI.NET, you can order webforwarding to redirect visits, or web hosting to host a real website.
In webforwarding you configure the source, protocol, destination URL and redirect type. In web hosting you configure the domain web service and then upload or install the content.
When to contact PRIMARI.NET
Contact PRIMARI.NET if you know the result but not the service: “I want my domain to stay visible”, “I want it to go to this URL” or “I want WordPress”. That is enough to choose the right setup.
