Yes, you can often forward your domain to a free or external website. But with normal webforwarding, the browser usually ends up showing the real destination platform address.

You can buy the domain at PRIMARI.NET and build the website on an external or free platform. Webforwarding can send visitors from your domain to that website.
For example:
www.example.com -> https://mypage.wixsite.com/mypageWill visitors see my domain or the free address?
With a normal web redirect, visitors often end up seeing the external platform address in the browser bar.
They may start by typing www.example.com, but then see mypage.wixsite.com/mypage.
If you want www.example.com to remain visible, the external platform must support custom domains and DNS must be configured according to its instructions.
When webforwarding is a good option
Webforwarding works well when:
- you do not mind the destination URL being visible;
- you want a quick solution;
- the external website does not support a custom domain;
- you are redirecting temporarily while preparing a final website;
- you want a subdomain to go to a specific page.
When direct DNS may be needed
If the external platform supports custom domains, it will often provide DNS instructions. These may include A, CNAME or TXT records.
In that case, you may need DNS configuration rather than webforwarding, so the platform serves your domain directly.
Common limits
Some platforms allow custom domains only on paid plans. Others support only www but not the bare domain. They may also ask for DNS verification or their own HTTPS certificate setup.
So the important question is not only the website URL, but what the platform allows.
