Transfers
How long does a domain transfer take
A transfer may take from a short time to several days, depending on the extension, current provider, validations and domain status.
Reviewed:
It is not always immediate
A domain transfer does not always complete when you pay or submit the request.
The process may involve validations, confirmations and waiting periods defined by the registry or current provider.
Factors that affect timing
The time depends on:
- the domain extension;
- whether the domain is unlocked;
- whether the Auth-Code is correct;
- whether email confirmation is required;
- the response from the current provider;
- the domain status;
- incidents or special requirements.
Do not plan a critical transfer at the last minute.
During the wait
While the transfer is in progress, the domain may continue working with the current DNS.
However, avoid major changes until the process is complete, especially if the domain has active web or email.
