I can send email but cannot receive

If you can send but not receive, review the domain MX records, email service, mailbox, active DNS and whether pending changes have been activated.

Reviewed:

Sending and receiving are different

Being able to send does not guarantee that the domain is ready to receive. Sending depends on the SMTP server, while receiving depends mainly on the DNS MX records.

What to check

Review these points:

  • the domain is active and has not expired;
  • the Email Primari service is active;
  • the mailbox exists and is spelled correctly;
  • the MX records point to the correct servers;
  • the DNS zone you changed is the active DNS;
  • pending DNS or email changes have been activated;
  • no forwarding rule or group sends the mail to another address.

Make a simple test

Send a message from an external address, such as Gmail or another company, to the mailbox on your domain. Then open webmail and check whether it arrives.

If it arrives in webmail but not on the phone or Outlook, the problem is in the program. If it does not arrive in webmail, the service and DNS must be reviewed.

When to contact PRIMARI.NET

Contact us if you recently changed MX records, if you do not know which DNS is active or if no external message reaches webmail.
