I can receive email but cannot send

If you can receive but not send email, the issue is often the outgoing SMTP server, port, password, authentication or the network you are using.

Reviewed:

The mailbox may be fine

If you receive messages, the mailbox exists and the incoming server probably works. The problem is usually in the sending part.

Email programs separate incoming configuration, IMAP or POP3, from outgoing configuration, SMTP.

What to check

Review these points:

  • outgoing SMTP server;
  • full mailbox username;
  • correct password;
  • authentication enabled for sending;
  • correct port and encryption;
  • whether the network blocks outgoing mail.

Many programs show errors such as "relaying denied", "authentication failed" or "connection timed out". These messages help identify whether the password, port or connection is failing.

Test from webmail

Open webmail.primari.net and try to send a message. If webmail sends correctly, the server works and the mail program or device configuration probably needs review.

When to contact PRIMARI.NET

Contact us if you are not sure which outgoing server to use, if Outlook or the phone shows errors, or if webmail cannot send either.
